>> Did I mention that COS got good? Or it has been good all along but the drag on of summer sales have prevented the goodness from coming forth and beaming into my eyes? The goodness is definitely dripping into COS bit by bit starting off with this squidgey delight of a sweater that I have taken to doubling up as a pillow on flights.
The full might of COS' A/W 11-12 collection will now be felt and the video above is a taster of a collection where modernist goes retro at COS HQ, as they look back to films like The Graduate and Funny Girl for preppy details to then fuse unexpectedly with Gattaca. What does that hodgepodge of cinematic references actually mean? A demure navy dress has a zip sliced waistline. Structure is given to padded sweaters which stand away from the body. A navy pencil skirt has pink side panels peeking out rounded off at the corners. Once again a knack for subtle but not boring colour palettes make COS pieces stand out on the rails. The sea of navy, grey and autumnal mustards/aubergines are broken up with bursts of pink and orange. It's not in COS' nature to do trend tick sheeting and thank god for that. In two store visits, I couldn't resist the lure of the 'This is New Season' label marked on the rail (yes, there is a time when the 50% tag loses value) and thus far have five pieces that have already been through the wash twice. I'm expecting a lot of mileage out of them beCOS I'm worth it. Sorry, couldnt resist it there...
