It should surprise no one that Helmut Lang’s resort collection was dominated by macabre hues of gray and black. The asymmetrical lines of this silk dress follow the natural curvature of the body; it takes its inspiration from Jan Kempenaers’s photographs of the Yugoslavian monuments known as Spomeniks. How silk can be modeled after concrete is as much a triumph of drapery as it is of ideological sculpture.
